Years ago Grant began speculating that the 4 Temperaments possibly all exist in each of us to differing degrees, rather than exclusive categories. He saw parallels to Jungian archetypes, and later in the ancient Chinese I Ching with its 64 symbols (hexagrams) and accompanying text and metaphors.

Used for ages as an oracle, its world-view of counterbalanced masculine (yang) and feminine (yin) forces is the basis of all growth and movement. Its advise is timeless, remarkably modern because it is archetypal. (Jung wrote an introduction to Wilhelm’s translation of the I Ching, and used it in his counseling.)
